Lanvin Celebrates Its 125th Birthday

Lanvin prepares to celebrate its 125th birthday. In 1889, Jeanne Lanvin founded her Fashion House, on the corner of rue Boissy d’Anglas and rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. It was the success of her hat designs that led her to launch her own business –  “Lanvin (Mademoiselle Jeanne) Modes” – and to design the hats of the most fashionable Parisiennes at the time.

Lanvin made such beautiful clothes for her daughter Marie-Blanche de Polignac that they began to attract the attention of a number of wealthy people who requested copies for their own children. Soon, Lanvin was making dresses for their mothers, and some of the most famous names in Europe were included in the clientele of her new boutique on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris. 20 years after she becomes member of France’s Chambre Syndicale de la Couture and markes her formal status as couturière.

Today, to celebrate the history of the house, Alber Elaz, the designer of the house since 2001, has started to create certain pieces inspired by the impressive archive of Lanvin. Even the logo will be transformed, showing Jeanne Lanvin and her child holding hands. Happy Birthday Lanvin!!!!
