Inspired by the ancestral Middle Eastern practice of layering one scent over another and other rituals of oriental perfuming, Dior released “Les Élixirs Précieux“, a collection of four perfumed oils designed to be superimposed with the iconic fragrances from “La Collection Privée Christian Dior“.
Well before alcohol, our ancestors would perfume themselves with oils, with proof dating as far back as the 4th Millenium BC in Persia, where perfumed oil was invented. These oils meet the highest standards: Rose magnifies the Turkish rose essence, Ambre has an intense sensuality, Oud exalts the woody power of Agarwood Essence and Musc combines the evocative and subtle tones of historical musks. Think of them as the couture of the perfume world.
The Elixir bottles are delicate and precious and the oil should not be used in abundance. A few drops on pulse points, behind the ears or along the hairline are more than enough for the fragrance to express its full accords.
