Diamonds are available in a variety of cuts that exemplify their brilliance and clarity. The baguette cut is one of the most popular diamond cut choices – it brings straight lines and beautiful shapes to all types of diamonds.
Baguette diamonds became popular in the1920s and 1930s during the Art Deco and Art Nouveau periods. The cut was the fashion reaction to the functional and geometric architecture of the time with simple shapes. It began as a cut for costume jewelry and its straight clean lines, then became popular as side stones and for pieces that had many baguette-cut stones. In 2010 the world’s most famous diamond, the Hope Diamond, was placed into a new necklace setting which features baguette diamonds.
