The most popular model, British Cara Delevingne, has become also a designer. In collaboration with DKNY she works on a capsule collection, entitled ‘Cara Delevingne for DKNY‘, scheduled to hit the counters in November 2014.
“I can’t believe that some random, rough ideas have finally turned into my own collection…designs with my own name on them and in collaboration with the iconic DKNY brand,” she said to WWD. “It is so wild to realize that it has been an entire year since we began planning this project together…goes to show that time does fly when you’re having fun.”
She is one of the cool girls, photographed by the paparazzi on the streets of London and New-York with androgynous looks, skinny jeans, coloured snickers and woolly hats – she became a trend setter, having 5.5 million followers on Instagram, more even than Lady Gaga, that reached 3.7 million followers.
The collection will have 15 pieces, featuring many of the model’s favourites – shot tops, leather bombers, most of which are unisex – with prices that will range from $ 70 for a hat, to $ 150 for a t-shirt, and $ 735 for a leather motorcycle jacket with removable sleeves.
When asked about her collaboration with the brand she says : “They always encouraged my design input, my personal style and my ideas from the very beginning of our working relationship. DKNY is urban and edgy but, most of all, it’s individual. They truly embrace the weirdness in all of us, so you can really be yourself.”
