LouLou de la Falaise – the eternal muse, and the first to have inspirited with her bold yet elegant style, was Yves Saint Laurent – a genius of the era, born in Algeria, with an almost inhuman sense of aesthetics and beauty. They first met five years after Yves and Pierre Berge, his life and business partner, opened up the eponymous fashion house – Yves Saint Laurent, back in 1963. She was his muse for thirty years, and became a close friend that he entrusted the house’s knitwear and accessory department. Their story is vibrant, a story filled with drug addictions, parties and unleashed creative spirit, demons and fabric scents, a story that LouLou de la Falaise continued by being the favourite model of the biggest fashion photographers of the era, like Richard Avedon and Helmut Newton. A story that took her to a collaboration with Oscar de la Renta for his jewellery collections. A story told by Natasha Fraser-Cavassoni, in a new Rizzoli book – The LouLou de la Falaise – available at Rizzoli.com for € 50.00.
