Who Are You?! Louis Vuitton Mask Accessories Collection

March 19, 2015 by Raluca Stoica

A new collection of accessories came to life in the workshops of the French fashion house, Louis Vuitton – Louis Vuitton Mask Collection  – in ethnic style, including shoes, handbags, jewelry, wallets and key rings. The Mask Capsule Collection honours the African masks collected by Gaston Louis Vuitton, the grandson of the founder of the brand, an avid traveler and collector, fascinated by the 30’s African art. For the indigenous people of Africa masks have been associated with death and the […]

Nostalgia of Africa – An Endless Source Of Inspiration

April 14, 2014 by Raluca Stoica

Africa – a continuous source of inspiration for jewellery makers. The nostalgia for this continent strikes those with a true passion for jewels with souls. The vastness of the teritory, the variety of tribes and the existence of so many cultures represent an endless source of creation for the designers. Maintaining a modern note here are some extraordinary pieces with simple geometric shapes and amulets.

March 17, 2014 by Raluca Stoica

Living in Africa and having the Italian craftsmen at disposal along with some inspiration. Combine the two distant cultures and make them live together in a single project. YOU Khanga is all this, AFRICAN LIFE & ITALIAN STYLE: where imagination meets the Khanga and the ‘know-how’ of master Italian shoemakers. This is how a new project was born – the You Khanga ballerina flats, created in fabrics made strictly in Kenya animating, under the sign of uniqueness, the elegance of […]

Mila Kunis – The New 2014 Face and Global Ambassador of Gemfields

February 5, 2014 by Raluca Stoica

Monday evening a crowd of gemstone lovers showed up to celebrate Gemfields‘ new tabletop book, “Emerald” and the new advertising campaign showing actress Mila Kunis. She had spent seven days in Zambia earlier last year as she had been chosen global ambassador of Gemfields. “It’s really a luxury to own jewellery and gemstones. If you’re in a position to do so, you’re fortunate. Given that, I think it’s important to pay attention to what you’re wearing and where it came from.” […]

Rare and Exotic-Tanzanite Gemstone-Now The Most Glamorous

November 25, 2013 by Raluca Stoica

Tanzanite is the blue/purple variety of the mineral zoisite (a calcium aluminium hydroxy silicate) discovered in the Mererani Hills of Manyara Region in Northern Tanzania in 1967, near the city of Arusha and Mount Kilimanjaro. The mineral was named by Tiffany & Co. after Tanzania, the country in which it was discovered. It’s very rare, apparently 1000 times more rare then diamonds. Like most of the gemstones, most of the  tanzanite is cut in Jaipur, India. One of the most famous large tanzanites (242 carats) is the “Queen of Kilimanjaro“. It […]

Beauty at Givenchy Spring/Summer 2014 Show

October 1, 2013 by Raluca Stoica

To accompany designer Richard Tisci‘s fusion of cultures which landed halfway between Japan and Africa this season, make-up artist Pat McGrath created spectacular masks, fashioned entirely from sequins, which recalled both tribal rites and Kabuki theatre. Twelve hours of intense work later, and the look was causing a sensation in the audience. To emphasize the striking make-up, hair stylist Luigi Murenu opted for soft hair, leaving it loose and lightly windswept. Makeup Pat McGrath; Hair Luigi Murenu. Source vogue.fr
