If there’s anyone who can show us more than one way to fall in love with the world of crystals, it’s Atelier Swarovski. They do so with a little help from creative minds and boast some 60 creative collaborations to date since its launch in 2007. For Atelier Swarovski’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection, avant-garde fashion house Viktor&Rolf, Belgian architect Vincent Van Duysen, and Chinese fashion designer Masha Ma take to the fore with their distinctive creations.
Viktor&Rolf have followed up their Fall/Winter 2014 Velvet Rock and Frozen Crystals collections with the Red Velvet Rock, a striking new colorway first previewed at their haute couture show in July 2014. Flocked in red velvet and set with sparkling crystals, the pieces join the existing Atelier Swarovski by Viktor&Rolf range in chic gray and black velvet flocking. Their new red carpet-themed collection is inspired by “a meditation on a contemporary obsession”, reappearing on red carpets the world over. The designers considered how dresses and matching Atelier Swarovski jewelry might look if they were actually made from red carpet, commenting: “No red carpet is complete without the matching jewels”.
Vincent Van Duysen‘s “Frost” collection plays heavily with light and strong geometric shapes, resulting in striking pieces that can stand their own as statement jewellery.
Masha Ma‘s creations are the most ephemeral of the lot, featuring intricate details evocative of the night-blooming Epiphyllum flower.
Speaking about the collection, Nadja Swarovski, Member of the Swarovski Executive Board, said: “For Spring/Summer 2015, we are delighted to have worked with three of our most inspirational past collaborators from the worlds of fashion and architecture. Their distinctive and uncompromising design visions, coupled with a shared passion for using crystal as a medium, have resulted in one of Atelier Swarovski’s most impactful seasonal collections so far.”
The Atelier Swarovski Spring/Summer 2015 collections will be available in selected Swarovski stores and independent retailers worldwide from February 2015.
